What is Property Revaluation?

Property revaluation is a legal and fiscal instrument that allows owners of real estate in Albania to update the registered value of their property in the Cadastre, bringing it closer to the current market value.

When you sell a property, you pay tax on the difference between the sale price and the registered value. If the registered value is low (as is often the case with older properties), the tax can be substantial.

With revaluation, you can update the value now by paying only 5% tax, instead of 15% that you would pay when selling the property.

Practical Example

Registered value: 50,000 €
Market value: 100,000 €
Difference: 50,000 €
Without revaluation (15%): 7,500 €
With revaluation (5%): 2,500 €
Your savings: 5,000 €
